Workforce
The workforce in Edwardsville
and Glen Carbon is fueled by an educational system
including Southern Illinois University Edwardsville,
Lewis & Clark Community College and Edwardsville
Community Unit School District #7. By utilizing local
resources, education and training opportunities in
Edwardsville, Glen Carbon and Madison County are plentiful.

Center for Workforce Training (CWT) embodies
Lewis & Clark Community College’s commitment
to meeting the needs of the corporate, professional,
and private community. Professional staff provide
comprehensive, cost-effective employee education and
training programs in eight areas of concentration
to help organizations increase profits and maximize
performance.
Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville’s Southwest
Illinois Advanced Manufacturing Center
(SIAM) performs research and workforce development
activities focusing on technical and manufacturing
enterprises. SIUE and Lewis & Clark Community
College have partnered to develop a “2+2+2”
cooperative workforce training program that engages
students at the high school level and develops their
skills through the community college and university
levels.
The SIUE
Entrepreneurship Center has increased
the awareness of the importance of entrepreneurial
activity in southwestern Illinois, and has developed
programs and opportunities attractive to entrepreneurs
in the region. The center covers a large area servicing
Madison, St. Clair, Jersey, Bond, Washington, Monroe,
Randolph, Calhoun, and Clinton counties. Located on
the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville,
the Southwestern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center
is part of a statewide effort to build a more vibrant
economy and create new job opportunities in Illinois.
Madison
County Employment and Training has a
variety of employer services for our local business
community. MCETD’s employer services can help
you with applicant assessment, employer recruitment,
job postings, job fairs and much more.
Madison-Bond
Workforce Investment Board is charged
to ensure the integration of services to prepare individuals
to meet the needs of businesses and industry in Madison
County and Bond County. The Board’s mission
is to take a leadership role in advocating, planning,
evaluating, and developing local workforce resources
in order to enable individuals and businesses to reach
their full potential in a changing global marketplace.
The Bureau
of Workforce Development is committed
to encouraging statewide economic development by cultivating
a well-trained workforce. To accomplish this goal,
the Bureau identifies youth, adults and dislocated
workers who are eligible for assistance under the
Workforce Investment Act (WIA), assesses their employability
skills and provides training as appropriate for identified
sectors of growing employment demand.
The Workforce
Investment Act (WIA) combines federally-funded
job training programs in Illinois into a "workforce
development" system where individuals can find
a job or train for a new career.
